Mary Jane Queen, 1/05/07

Today Don, Sarah and I went to Mary Jane Queen's house near the top of John's Creek in Caney Fork which is in Cullowhee, NC. Caney Fork is a large area of land which once had three stores according to Mary Jane Queen. Now it is beautiful farm land, mountains and woods.
Mary Jane Queen is a kind delightful matriarch of the Appalachian region. She shared with us historical vignettes of Caney Fork. I'll be sharing more about her and her legacy in the coming months.

Fabulous!

Okay ladies, I'm hearing a rumor that we're not supposed to miss your music.

Where's the link to the muses music?

That must be a BIG rumor to reach to Los Angeles! Hopefully, we will have some links on the blog for all those important connections. Until then, go to our web page, www.ashevillemuses.com. There you can follow the path to happy CD land!
I really enjoyed your blog! You have gutsy stuff on there. I tried to respond to you through e-mail but it was bounced back to me. Do you get hate mail filling up your box?
Wow!!!!
There really are important things that you have commented on that parents need to think about.
Good for you!
Cheers,
Judy

Hi Judy-

Loved the video- I am always facinated with the way that musical and oral traditions travel throughout the world. I am part of a contra dancing community here in Cincy- Are you familiar with it?

Anyway- Sorry, I spread the rumour! Have a great day!

Thank you for the wonderful rumor you posted on your blog!
Musical and oral traditions are taking on a new strength now with the internet and our growing awareness of indigenous living.
Mary Jane Queen is an amazing woman of 92. She talked for two hours about floods, farms, food, flowers(like the alliteration?) and the factors that make life meaningful: family, friends and faith!
